MIB special forum held in Temburong

A SPECIAL forum on Malay Islamic Monarchy (MIB) was held at the Rataie Community Hall in Temburong District yesterday, in conjunction with the Golden Jubilee Celebration of His Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu’izzaddin Waddaulah ibni Al-Marhum Sultan Haji Omar ‘Ali Saifuddien Sa’adul Khairi Waddien, Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam’s Accession to the Throne.

The guest of honour was Dato Seri Paduka Awang Haji Abdul Mokti bin Haji Mohd Daud, the Deputy Minister of Religious Affairs.

The event began with a mass recitation of Surah Al-Fatihah, followed by a recitation of selected verses from Al-Quran and quotes from the Hadith.

Among the forum panellists was Dr Haji Abdul Manaf bin Haji Metussin, Permanent Secretary at the Ministry of Primary Resources and Tourism, who spoke about the Brunei Government’s efforts to provide mainstream and religious education of an international level, in line with the MIB concept and principles.

Fellow panellist Dr Malai Yunos bin Malai Yusuf, an MIB and Economics lecturer at Universiti Teknologi Brunei (UTB), discussed the opportunities of public and private education in developing the welfare of Brunei citizens, while Dr Lilly Suzana binti Haji Shamsu from Universiti Islam Sultan Sharif Ali (UNISSA) discussed the effectiveness of daily prayer towards social harmony. The forum was chaired by Muhammad Al-Qusyairi bin Haji Abdul Kahar from UTB.

Organised by the ‘Pemberigaan MIB’ working committee under the Media, Publicity and Printing Working Committee, the special forum is intended as a celebration of His Majesty’s leader-ship, and an effort for the preservation of peace, prosperity and happiness in a sovereign and democratic MIB nation in line with the teachings of Islam.
