A DIKIR ‘Syarafil Anam’ competition for the Royal Brunei Armed Forces (RBAF) and Ministry of Defence (MinDef) was held yesterday in conjunction with the birthday anniversary of Prophet Muhammad (pbuh) for the year 1436 Hijrah.
The competition comprised both male and female categories. Seven male groups and six female groups from different units of the RBAF and MinDef joined the competition held simultaneously at the Dewan Pahlawan in Berakas Garrison for the male category and at the MinDef Surau in Bolkiah Garrison for the female category.
The guest of honour at the male category event was Commander of the RBAF, Pehin Datu Pekerma Jaya Major General Dato Paduka Seri Mohd Tawih bin Abdullah, who also presented prizes to the winners.
In the female category event, guest of honour Lt Col Hajah Asnah binti Haji Matamit, Finance Staff Officer, Directorate for Personnel at MinDef, presented the prizes.
The dikir group Salim-ul Aqidah from IL ABDB was crowned as male category champions while dikir group Ainussofa from MinDef emerged champions in the female category. Champions in both categories received challenge trophies.
Runner-up in the male category was dikir group Dhiyaul Haq from the Royal Brunei Navy while third place went to dikir group Syabab Ar-Roja from the Royal Brunei Air Force.
Meanwhile, in the female category, the runner-up was dikir group Syabah Ufairah from the Royal Brunei Land Force while third place went to dikir group Umariah from the Royal Brunei Air Force.
All teams from both categories also received a Mushaf Brunei Darussalam and its translation and certificate of participation.
According to MinDef, the event aimed to create awareness among RBAF and MinDef personnel on the importance of the Dikir Syarafil Anam which contains specific praises for the Prophet Muhammad (pbuh) and in uplifting affection towards the Prophet.
