MEGAMAS Training Company Sdn Bhd based in Mumong, Kuala Belait, recently received an international recognition from Nebosh UK at the Nebosh Course Providers Conference in Singapore for its outstanding contribution to health and safety.
Teresa Budworth, Chief Executive Officer of Nebosh, presented the special award to the General Manager of Megamas, Mohd Roger Ainsworth for the company’s contribution to the improvement of health and safety since Megamas launched the first Nebosh International General Certificate (IGC) course in November 2004.
The Nebosh IGC course offers an excellent foundation for managers, supervisors and people at the start of a career in health and safety.
Nebosh’s qualifications are also recognised by relevant professional bodies.
In addition, the Nebosh’s certificate qualifications are structured to contain certain common units allowing participants to use their previous achievements to attain additional certificate without having to resit the common units, for example, in construction or fire safety.
Teresa Budworth praised Megamas for the numerous international health and safety awards gained by the company over the last 10 years since 2004, and, in particular, its important and significant contribution made to improve the safety in the workplace for workers within the oil and gas industry.
Mohd Roger said, “Megamas is very proud to receive this award. I would like to add that perhaps one of our greatest achievements over the last 10 years or so, has been the recruitment, training and development of our local Bruneian employees.”
Megamas currently employs 85 per cent local Bruneians and the training staff are working with clients and contractors alike throughout the region bringing high standards of safety to all workers in the workplace.
Megamas has always been a family owing to the generous leadership by the Managing Director, Hjh Khadijah Mohamed, who was named Brunei Woman Entrepreneur of the Year in 2010.
