THE Embassy of Japan in Brunei Darussalam will send three delegates from the Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sports’ (MCYS) Arts and Culture Section for the Performing Arts Meeting in Yokohama 2015 (TPAM in Yokohama 2015).
The delegation – comprising Head of Arts Instructor Shahminan bin Hj Mohamad Yasin, Art Instructor Tizan binti Hj Jamudin and Art Performer Nursyikmah binti Hj Muamad – will leave today and return on February 16.
Second Secretary Hideki Hagiwara said, “This is the first time that the Embassy of Japan in Brunei Darussalam has sent a delegation to the TPAM despite it being the oldest performing arts platform in Asia… It turns 20 years old this year.”
“The Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sports nominated six individuals who are active in the field of arts… and any field related to per-forming arts,” clarified Shahminan, one of the delegates.
“The objective of the programme is to gather youth from Asean and countries such as the United States of America, Australia, Brazil, Germany and so on to develop contemporary performing arts by means of networking and to promote products from all the countries involved.”
The delegates also shared that they were honoured to be nominated and pleased to have some experience with representatives from other countries as well as to improve the quality of performances in Brunei.
