MORE than 4,300 people gathered at the Padang Bandaran in Kuala Belait yesterday for the Maulidur Rasul procession.
The chief guest was Dr Haji Junaidi bin Haji Abdul Rahman, Permanent Secretary (Core Education) at the Ministry of Education.
The event began with the recitation of Quranic verses by Muhd Kamarul Nisa bin Muhd Pangkat, champion of the Al-Quran Recitation Competition for New Muslim Converts for Belait District level and the second runner-up for the national level.
The event continued with a Dikir Marhaban performance by government officials and staff followed by a Tazkirah Khas delivered by Dr Haji Noralizam bin Haji Aliakbar, religious officer from Religious Teachers University of Seri Begawan, Ministry of Religious Affairs.
Fifty groups from government and non-government agencies participated in the procession. The representatives and leaders from each team received certificates of participation from the chief guest.
After the recitation of Doa Selamat and thrice the shout of Selawat, the participants began their procession in Kuala Belait that was led by the chief guest and committee members.
There was also a Tausyeh performance from Fariqul Mukmin group, headed by Haji Abdul Azim bin Haji Tujoh, at the Padang Bandaran.
