A 26-YEAR-old Bruneian Chinese man was released on court bail of $5,000 or in one local surety after he pleaded guilty to possession of just under 100 undeclared smart phones.
Zhang Jianqun will be sentenced on December 18 while the court considers a fitting punishment.
Customs and AITI agents conducted an inspection at a mobile shop named LARA Corp at The Airport Mall, Berakas at about 3.45pm on September 29.
The defendant, Managing Director of Qina Enterprise Sdn Bhd who has been running LARA Corp Enterprise for the past two years, was present at the shop when officers found 21 units of iPhones, 20 units of various types of mobile phones and another box containing 54 units of various types of mobile phones.
During investigations, the defendant said he bought the undeclared smart phones from Syau Trading Company.
