A FOREIGNER lost an undisclosed amount of cash and mobile phone to a man impersonating as a police officer last Sunday.
The case is currently under investigation by the Royal Brunei Police Force following a complaint lodged by the victim.
According to the police report, the 30-year-old victim was awaiting for a bus ride at the Perpindahan Rimba, Gadong area when a car stopped by and the man at the wheel introduced himself as a police officer and asked the victim to get into the car.
The alleged police impersonator drove his car to the Kianggeh area, near Jubilee Hotel and took the victim’s bag and mobile phone claiming he wanted to check the contents of the bag.
When the victim was eventually dropped off, he realised that the cash and phone were missing as he was about to send the money back home.
The suspect is being described as a local, wearing a blue cap, tall and skinny build.
The Royal Brunei Police Force has sought the cooperation of the public in providing any information on the suspect to help in the investigation by contacting 993. Members of the public have been advised to be cautious about suspicious individuals and not to enter the vehicle of a stranger.
