A 24-YEAR-OLD man was slapped with a $500 fine or to serve a month in jail in de-fault after pleading guilty in the Bandar Magistrate’s Court to leaving the country without his passport.
Muhammad Abdul Hallim bin Abdul Ghani arrived at the Kuala Lurah Immi-gration Control Post at about 10pm on August 9, 2013 when he was stopped by the Immigration officer on duty.
The officer then asked for the defen-dant for his passport but the defendant failed to produce it.
Subsequently the defendant was sent to the enforcement office for further in-vestigation where he revealed that he and his fiancée had gone to Kuala Lurah earlier in the day at 9.42pm when only his fiancée handed her passport and both of them managed to go through without the defendant’s departure clearance. They had gone to the Tedungan Control Post to send biscuits and the defendant sat in the passenger seat while his fiancée drove.
DPP Amiriah Hj Ali prosecuted the case.
