A 53 YEAR-OLD Malaysian man was fined $4,000 or serve four months’ jail after he pleaded guilty to impersonation of another person by using another person’s passport to get immigration clearance.
Yii Wen Kok first used the passport of Yii Koah Houh at the arrival clearance booth of the immigration control post in Sungai Tujoh from Miri, Sarawak on January 15.
He then used the same passport again later in the afternoon for departure clearance when he was about to leave Brunei.
Before he could leave the country, the immigration officer on duty found that the defendant’s face differentiates from the passport photo and was stopped for investigations leading to his arrest.
