A 38-YEAR-OLD Malaysian yesterday pleaded guilty at the Bandar Magistrate’s Court to a criminal breach of trust (CBT).
He will learn his fate on December 13.
Senior Magistrate Pg Masni Pg Bahar deferred the sentencing of Sius bin Okit to consider the case facts.
DPP Dk Nurul Pg Rosli informed the court that Sius works for Daikyo Industrial Gas Sdn Bhd in Brunei Darussalam as a driver whose responsibilities include delivering gas to customers in Brunei Darussalam, accepting payments and issuing receipts.
Sometime between February and November this year, Sius siphoned some money from the company.
The defendant would receive calls from customers for the purchase of industrial gas.
The said customers would make cash payment direct to him.
He would issue them receipts but instead of giving all of the money to the company’s clerk, he would take the money and keep it for himself.
The total amount that he took over the course 10 months was $13,952.
Although his activity went unnoticed by the company, on December 1 at about 10am, the defendant went to see the manager of Daikyo in the office and admitted to him that he had taken the said amount of money for personal use.
The manager then lodged a police report which led to the arrest of the defendant.
