A MALAYSIAN man was recently fined $3,600 or three months jail in default after he pleaded guilty to submitting an incorrect declaration form for goods during transit.
The Kuala Belait Magistrate’s Court heard that the defendant Shukri bin Fihil, 36, arrived at the Sungai Tujoh Control Post at 10.50am on November 25 from Miri to transport five bundles of Selangan Batu Timber and another bundle of various sizes in a container truck he was driving to Labuan.
The customs declaration form only listed other items excluding the Selangan Batu Timber. The court ordered the goods to be returned to the defendant and transported back to Miri. The fine was paid.
