A MALAYSIAN couple yesterday entered pleas of not guilty in the High Court towards a charge of drug trafficking.
Their lawyer also opposed to the prosecution’s application to adjourn the case to wait for an analyst certificate to be completed on the drugs.
Justices Dato Paduka Steven Chong and Dato Paduka Hairol Arni Hj Abdul Majid gave until March 12 for defence counsel Yusuf Halim to submit his argument for the certificate to be expedited against DPP Shamshuddin Hj Kamaluddin’s application for a lengthy (about six weeks) adjournment.
The prosecution also informed the Justices that it was the time asked by the Department of Scientific Services to complete the analysis.
Durahim Osman, 54, and Norainie Ismail, 40, face a charge of possession of 637.178 grammes of methylamphetamine for the purpose of trafficking at about 1pm on December 10, 2013, at the Singa Chicken Rice restaurant on Jalan McArthur.
