THE Malaysian Citizens Association (PWM) welcomed its new executive members for the 2014-2016 term during an installation night held recently at the I-Lotus Restaurant in Kg Rimba.
In attendance was the High Commissioner of Malaysia to Brunei Darussalam, Datuk Awang Sahak bin Awang Salleh, in his capacity as the patron of the association. He handed over certificates of appointment to the newly-elected members, including re-elected PWM President, James Lee.
In his speech, James Lee said the PWM has made considerable progress and improvement from the time of its founding over two decades ago.
“It has been on a memorable journey led by many capable leaders from our homeland to make the PWM one of the most recognised associations in Brunei Darussalam,” he added.
During the event, the Malaysian High Commissioner presented certificates of appreciation to acknowledge the outgoing committee members. The event concluded with the presentation of a memento and a group photo of the newly installed members.
Formed in 1991 and registered with the registrar of societies in 1996, the PWM encourages closer cooperation, understanding and harmony among its members and other Malaysians and communities in Brunei while providing opportunities for recreational, social, educational and cultural interaction.
