MILAN – Malaysian-born Belgium-based designer Edmund Ooi recently showed his Fall/Winter 2015/16 Men’s Collection at the Milan Fashion Week in Milan, Italy.
Online reports said that Ooi got his start in design at the age of 19, when he unveiled his first-ever collection in his home country. He then moved to Belgium and enrolled in the Royal Academy of Fine Art in Antwerp.
While at school, Ooi garnered the attention of Nicola Formichetti, who made the decision to carry Ooi’s label in his own New York City pop-up shop, the online reports said. His CV also includes a stint as a junior menswear designer at Mugler, where he worked under then-head menswear designer Romain Kremer for a year in 2011.
