BRUNEI Darussalam opened their campaign in the Mission Foods 9th Asian Netball Championships with a stuttering 78-15 defeat to Malaysia at the Singapore Sports Hub OCBC Arena yesterday.
Although overpowered by a strongly-fielded Malaysian side, the national team put on a fight through scorers Zuraidah, Hafizah, Masriatol and Nurul Ain.
Brunei Darussalam will return to the court today against Myanmar as they bid to put their opening day woes behind them and get back to contention for the elusive spot in the SEA Games.
Reigning champions Singapore began their title defence with a great start after trouncing Japan 67-13.
With Myanmar being a sub-region rival opposition, Brunei Darussalam will no doubt be geared up to set the record straight in their second game.
