HER Majesty Raja Isteri Pengiran Anak Hajah Saleha consented to attend the Women’s Special Assembly held in conjunction with Maulud Nabi at the International Convention Centre (ICC) in Berakas yesterday.
Her Majesty was greeted on arrival by the Co-Chairpersons of the Women’s Special Assembly from the Ministry of Religious Affairs, the Ministry of Finance and the Women’s Council as well as other members of the Executive Committee for the Women’s Special Assembly.
Also present were Her Royal Highness Paduka Seri Pengiran Anak Isteri Pengiran Anak Sarah, Yang Amat Mulia Pengiran Bini Hajah Faizah binti Dato Haji Nasir, Her Royal Highness Princess Hajah Rashidah Sa’adatul Bolkiah, Her Royal Highness Princess Hajah Majeedah Nuurul Bolkiah, Her Royal Highness Princess Hajah Masna and Her Royal Highness Princess Hajah Amal Umi Kalthum Al-Islam.
The event began with the recitation of verses from al-Quran and its meaning led by Amal Nazirah binti Hj Asmat and Norainah binti Hj Jakir.
In her welcoming address, Dr Hajah Masnon binti Haji Ibrahim, the Co-Chairperson of the Women’s Special Assembly, stated that women – both in the government and private sectors – play an active role in national development in various forms.
She added that the involvement and contribution of women in national development can no longer be in question as women are constantly striving in attaining knowledge and skills which are suited to their roles as the foundation and shapers of the nation.
The event also saw a special lecture conducted by Dr Hjh Rasinah binti Hj Ahim, the Director of Postgraduate Education and Research at Universiti Islam Sultan Sharif Ali (UNISSA).
Dr Hjh Rasinah reminded women to equip themselves with religious knowledge and to carry out their responsibilities with due diligence as endorsed by Prophet Muhammad (pbuh).
A pantomime performance, performed by a group from the Seri Begawan Religious Teachers University College (KUPU SB), and a dikir performance were also held to enliven the event.
