LUMINOX’S relationship with the Navy SEALs started in 1993 when the Navy SEALs were searching for an analogue timepiece that was durable and dependable – a sense of security that their gear will work when needed.
They discovered Luminox with its unique self-powered illumination technology for optimum visibility day and night in any condition.
Luminox honours the legacy of these elite teams by designing watches conceived with the Navy SEALs and using the Luminox Light Technology (LLT) to provide unmatched night visibility through a self-powered illumination system that lasts up to 25 years without an exterior light source or the push of a button.
Till today, Luminox remains as an elite brand that is licensed to use the emblem of the Navy SEALs.
The logo can be seen engraved on the case back of the Luminox Navy SEAL collections from the first generation of the Luminox Original Navy SEAL, to the second generation of the Luminox Colormark Navy SEAL and to the latest generation the Luminox Navy SEAL 3500.
“Along with a spectrum of other watches, the Luminox watch was heated in an oven to replicate desert temperature, was frozen overnight in a refrigerator freezer, was pressed in a water pressure pot below advertised depth capabilities and was given to SEALs to during training and operations.” says Nick North, Chief Petty Officer, US Navy SEAL (Retired).
In 1994, the Luminox 3001 Original Navy SEAL was launched as the timepiece that put Luminox on the map.
The officer in charge of procurement for the Navy SEALs, Chief Nick North and Luminox worked together to develop a watch specifically for the Navy SEALs.
After 14 years, the second generation of the Navy SEALs series was launched in 2007: The Luminox Navy SEAL Colormark 3050 series.
In 2017, Luminox released its latest evolution of its Navy SEAL watches, the Luminox Navy SEAL 3500 Series.
The Luminox Navy SEAL 3500 Series is a modern interpretation of the Luminox Navy SEAL Colormark 3050 series – where proportions and technical features of the watch have been optimised.
Luminox Navy SEAL 3500 Series stays true to the Luminox heritage using the Luminox Light Technology and the Luminox iconic “turtle-shape” in 45mm carbon compound case and uni-directional bezel for its durability and lightweight. Unlike the earlier series
Luminox maintained the natural colour of the carbon compound, giving the case a matte black finish with a tinge of grey for a superior finish. The crown now comes enhanced with the Luminox logo engraved compared to the cleaner versions from its predecessors.
The case-back has now been updated with a stainless steel case back for enhanced water resistance and deeper etching of the Navy SEAL logo.
Luminox Navy SEAL 3500 Series is launched with the light weight and tough carbon compound bracelet which further improves durability for the Navy SEALs in the harshest environments.
When grasped from the top, the rotating bezel has more grip which makes wearing gloves less of a chore.
The hour and minute hands are made wider and together with the cleaner dial and larger fonts, the Navy SEAL can have a quick glance of the time in any extreme conditions.
