SNACK lovers can now enjoy their choices of tidbits at I Love Yoo, the famous Malaysian store which sells snacks like crunchy You Tiao. The store held its launching ceremony yesterday at the upper basement of Freshco in Batu Satu.
This first outlet in the Sultanate opened its door to the public recently with its vision of bringing scrumptious traditional street food favourites in a modern setting to the community.
“Brunei’s market for food and beverages industry has grown up in the past five years based on my research and now various cafes and eateries are growing in numbers. This is why I’m eyeing for a bigger market here,” stated Jeffrey Leong, Managing Director of Top Leader Sdn Bhd, and one of the original founders of I Love Yoo store.
Jeffrey mentioned that the snacks offered are all freshly made and use locally-purchased high quality products. He believed that with the open concept of the outlet, patrons can confidently see the freshly-made products that they have ordered.
In addition to being economical, he also mentioned that natural flavours are their main focus in producing high quality snacks. For example, the porridge they offer comes in two variations, namely dry oyster and peanut, as well as the dry scallop porridge. He emphasised that they do not use any artificial flavouring in producing the porridge to preserve the original flavour.
“Bruneians always flocked to Miri just to get the taste of these snacks from I Love Yoo, and we opened the outlet here which is also due to Bruneian customers’ request to have an outlet in Brunei so the locals can get a taste of it as well,” said Jeffrey.
He also shared that new menus are in the pipeline. One of the snacks which will be expected to impress the Bruneian patrons is the ‘apam balik’ or ‘kuih Malaya’ and its recipe will be a little bit different but tastier, Jeffrey added.
Jeffrey revealed that Brunei is the second country to have an I Love Yoo store, and this will be followed with outlets in Cambodia and Vietnam. As for Brunei, he mentioned that the franchise aims to have three outlets here.
The launching saw a ribbon-cutting ceremony by Jeffrey Leong, SMARTER Brunei’s President Malai Haji Abdullah bin Haji Malai Othman, YASKA Occupational Therapist Siti Nurazmizah binti Hj Azmi, and owner of I Love Yoo Brunei’s franchise, Lim Hui Ling.
I Love Yoo products are an instant hit among the young and adult as it offers several set meals which include You Tiao, porridge and soya bean milk. Other fried snacks offered are butterfly bun, fried red bean bun, mix bun and sweet potato balls.
I Love Yoo is open from 10am to 10pm every day under the management of Rotikopi Café.
