Lorry carrying 28 student police cadets overturns in Kudat

TAWAU (Bernama) – Tawau Police District chief ACP Fadil Marsus has confirmed a police lorry from the Tawau District Headquarter which was carrying 28 students to the police cadet corps camp in Kudat was involved in an accident in Bukit Ular, Jalan Sapi Nangoh in Kota Marudu on Wednesday.

He said in the 5.20pm incident, the police lorry was negotiating a hill and lost control at a sharp bend and overturned on the right side of the road. No other vehicle was involved in the accident.

“Out of the 28 students, aged between 14-17 years, seven sustained minor injuries and were sent to the nearest hospital in Kota Marudu for further treatment.

“All the students are covered by insurance and have filled the parental consent forms,” he said in a statement yesterday.

Fadil said the police lorry was part of the convoy of six vehicles from the Tawau District Police Headquarters which was on its way from Tawau to attend the police cadet corps camp in Kudat, involving 74 student cadet corps, six teachers and eight policemen.
