THE US Embassy in Bandar Seri Begawan has nominated technopreneur Keeran Dato Janin to receive a scholarship to attend the Global Youth Economic Opportunities Summit from October 6-9 in Washington, DC.
Keeran Janin was nominated as a participant in the Young Southeast Asian Leadership Initiative (YSEALI), a US initiative that seeks to provide training and support to young leaders from Southeast Asia so that they may contribute their ideas and energy towards improving the lives of people in their communities and in the region, a press release stated.
The Global Youth Economic Opportunities Summit is an event that will convene over 400 funders, private sector companies, policy makers, youth leaders, implementers, educators and researchers from over 50 countries.
Keeran Janin, who is the Chief Executive Officer and Co-Founder of Chrends, visited the US Embassy in Bandar Seri Begawan on October 1. He stated, “Being part of YSEALI and representing Brunei at the Youth Economic Opportunities summit is a great opportunity to learn more and increase my contribution towards the shaping of our economy in the future. I feel it’s very important for all Bruneians to actively participate in these initiatives to ensure a bright future for our nation.”
During his visit to the US Embassy, Keeran Janin met with US Ambassador to Brunei Darussalam Daniel Shields, who commented that “the Global Youth Economic Opportunities Summit is an exceptional chance for young leaders interested in improving economic opportunity throughout Asean to meet with like-minded colleagues and gain knowledge, inspiration and motivation.”
Ambassador Shields continued, “The US Embassy in Bandar Seri Begawan is pleased to nominate Keeran Janin, whose development of ICT software initiatives in Brunei is an inspiration for budding local technopreneurs.”
