TWO Bruneians charged with house break-in and theft yesterday pleaded not guilty at the Intermediate Court in the capital.
Mohd Noramir Hj Jamil and Norlilawati Hassan, aged 34 and 32 respectively, are charged under Section 454 and Section 380 of the Penal Code.
The pair face five to 10 years’ jail and whipping for the first charge, while the second carries up to seven years’ imprisonment, a fine or both.
The two have been released on a $5,000 bail or two local sureties each and are scheduled to appear in court again next May.
Failure to meet these conditions, stated the judge, would result in their remand in the Jerudong prison and for their cases to be heard again in November.
Other conditions of the bail include keeping their distances from the crime scenes – a house in Bengkurong Masin and a shop in Kilanas.
DPP Dk Siti Nurul Fairuz informed the court that the prosecution has 10 to 11 witnesses.
