A 33-YEAR-old local man was sentenced to five years jail with five strokes of the cane and a $4,000 fine or seven months’ jail in default, after he pleaded guilty to two counts of possession of methamphetamine and two counts of consumption of the same drug.
The Bandar Seri Begawan Magistrate’s Court, presided over by Magistrate Hajah Ervy Rahman, heard from Prosecuting Officer Izan Jaya that the defendant Adee Hendra bin Ali Jaffar was arrested after being found in possession of 0.5795 grammes of meth at a house in Skim Tanah Kurnia Rakyat Jati Kampong Rimba Gadong at about 8.30pm on April 22, 2011.
The defendant’s urine sample tested positive for the same drug.
On May 12, 2012, the defendant was again caught with 4.1674 grammes of meth in a car on the Tungku Link Highway at about 12.55am.
The defendant’s urine sample again tested positive for consumption of the class A drug.
Magistrate Hajah Ervy said the defendant clearly had not learned his lesson as he had a previous conviction less than five years ago.
