A LOCAL man was sentenced to jail for three years and a fine of $1,200 or two months’ jail in default by the Kuala Belait Magistrate’s Court yesterday after he pleaded guilty to two counts of consumption and one count of possession of meth.
DPP Atiyyah Abas informed Magistrate Zelda Skinner that Azren bin Zaini was first arrested at about 11.05 am on May 28, 2009 at the BSP Company house in Seria with other detainees.
Nothing drug related was found at the scene, however, the defendant’s urine sample taken later at the NCB office in KB tested positive for consumption of meth.
On July 31, 2010 at about 5.45 am, the defendant was arrested in a raid by NCB officers at a house in RPN Lumut, and again the defendant’s urine sample was tested positive for the same drug.
At the time, officers found 2.9127 grammes of meth in crystalline substances.
Lawyer Rozaiman Rahman represented the defendant in the case.
