A BRUNEIAN film called ‘Apa Ada Dengan Rina’ or ‘What is So Special About Rina’ will be featured on November 27 and 30 in Seoul, South Korea, to mark the 25th anniversary of dialogue between Asean & Korea as well as the 2014 Asean-Republic of Korea (ROK) Commemorative Summit, which will be held in Busan next month, the Asean Secretariat said yesterday.
The director of Regal Blue Production and producer of the 90 minute film, Harlif bin Hj Mohamad, said that he was delighted when he heard the news. “While in Seoul, I will also be involved in a directors’ talk and a question and answer session.
The film will be shown twice in a digital cinema at the National Museum of Modern and Contemporary Arts in Seoul, Korea.”
Harlif bin Hj Mohamad is also a music composer and actor who has been directing TV programmes since 2002.
The film is Brunei’s first commercial and self-funded movie and is the second Brunei film to be shown in local cinemas.
The Asean-Korea Centre is organising the Asean Film Festival 2014, which will feature 10 films from Asean member states.
This festival aims to strengthen cultural understanding between all the different peoples involved as well as provide a platform for an Asean film industry.
Over the past two decades, Asean has become a key economic partner for Korea and a frequently visited region for tourists.
The Asean Film Festival 2014 will serve as an opportunity to enhance understanding on the different cultures found within the Asean region and Korea.
