A 26-YEAR-OLD local man from Kg Junjungan was feared drowned during a fishing outing around Luba Mausoleum in Kg Bunut yesterday morning.
According to the Royal Brunei Police Force (RBPF), an eyewitness claimed he was struggling in the middle of the river at around 9.45am and that his boat had been circling around without any operator.
A family member, meanwhile, said he would normally catch crabs in the afternoon and that he had left the house at around 6am yesterday morning.
When his boat was retrieved, a catch of crabs was found onboard.
The police received a distress call regarding the incident at 9.50am yesterday.
Personnel from the Diving Unit of the Fire and Rescue Department, Bandar Seri Begawan Fire Station and Kg Ayer Police Station, as well as marine units, were dispatched to aid in the search.
At press time, police, as well as Fire and Rescue personnel were still searching for the missing man.
