A GROUP of entrepreneurs yesterday held the ‘Bake Sale Finale 2014’ – a cake and food bazaar – at the Hajah Marianah Building in Tutong Town.
Eleven entrepreneurs who sell their products through online orders or phones, comprising Gzul Yusof, Café Maurina, Frenzywings Bn, House of Mian, Mamushka Cupcakery, Sugarbabies_ira, Sweetness by Eza Rul, Twins Bakery, Bn16s_kitchen, Pearlbox and Ratna Closet, participated in the bazaar.
The bazaar was held in appreciation of the customers who have been continuously supporting the entrepreneurs. It also provided a platform for entrepreneurs to meet and learn from each other while doing their business.
In an interview with the Bulletin, Gzul Yusof, 31, said that he gets a lot of benefits from participating in the bazaar such as providing extra earnings, a means of promoting their business and allows the entrepreneurs to meet their customers in one place.
He also said that the bazaar allowed entrepreneurs like him to meet with each other, allowing them to share their views and how they run the business.
Gzul also shared that the first time he participated in an entrepreneurial activity was with his friends at the Business School and at the time, he was only selling ‘Spaghetti and Meatballs’ and Traffic Light Creamy Cheesecake.
Meanwhile, Mamushka Cupcakery owned by Nurul Hafizah Ismail or Fiez said that she is fortunate to have talent in baking a variety of colourful and tasty cakes and cupcakes – admitting that she and her sister have never taken any baking course.
Fiez started her business in 2010 and is an education officer.
According to Fiez, her entrepreneurial spirit was born when she was frequently buying cakes from a local entrepreneur, and at the time, it occurred to her that she was dissatisfied that she could only buy and not bake her own cakes.
Since then, Fiez and her sister have taken their time to search for cake and cupcake recipes of multiple varieties and took a chance by selling them via Facebook and Instagram.
“My sister and I did not expect the chance we took back then could get encouraging feedbacks from the public. People have come to us to make big orders for birthdays and other events,” said Fiez.
