SEVENTEEN prospective recipients of Brunei Economic Development Board’s (BEDB) Youth Development Resources (YDR) grant participated in the Bright Ideas workshop followed by the Business Plan Series conducted by LiveWIRE Brunei. The participants are required to attend several workshops and programmes before they can apply for the YDR grant. This is the ninth Bright Ideas workshop that LiveWIRE has organised this year to cater for those interested to start and manage a business.
Mohd Fadhilullah Tudun bin Haji Hassan, LiveWIRE Brunei Business Counsellor and facilitator of the workshop, explained that the aim of the two-day programme was to provide a comprehensive programme on enterprise awareness as well as essential information to help new business ideas get off the ground.
The two-day workshop covered topics such as the mindset of being successful, finding business ideas, starting up a business, personal finance, health, safety and environment (HSE) and a simulation exercise to educate the participants on cash flow and profit/loss statements.
What makes the Bright Ideas workshop so popular among its attendees is the way the workshop is conducted and delivered. The facilitator uses accelerating learning techniques and fun and games to create a conducive-learning environment, which enable participants to learn faster and more efficiently.
The Business Plan Series (BPS) workshop provides participants the opportunity to set up a business in their respective industry sector. The BPS workshop is aimed at providing participants with the tools and techniques on how to write a viable business plan. Topics include essentials of a business plan, resources for more information, executive summary, business profile, product/service description, human resources management, market research and strategy, understanding organisation strategy, operations strategy, calculating startup costs, financial forecasts, creating a cashflow forecast, using IT in creating and presenting a business plan and presentation tips.
The workshop also includes a group discussion and presentation in order to help participants gain a better understanding of its concepts and ideas. The BPS workshop is tailor-made for the Brunei market.
