IN THE wake of the theft incident at SMARTER centre twice this year, the Lilli Lingerie Boutique has come forward for the first time to help the centre with the installation of door and window grills to the building. To mark this contribution, a handing over ceremony took place yesterday at the centre in the presence of the President of SMARTER Brunei, Malai Hj Abdullah bin Malai Hj Othman.
On hand to represent the boutique was its Managing Director Maria Lilli Yong who handed over the key of the door and window grills to Malai Hj Abdullah, witnessed by representatives from both sides.
According to SMARTER, the centre was burglarised in the past months where the thieves managed to steal furniture and equipment that Individuals with Autism (IWA) needed for their training.
“As this centre is not funded by the government, I hope more people will contribute to help the Individuals with Autism so that they can lead a normal life,” Maria Lilli Yong said.
Meanwhile, in his brief note, Malai Hj Abdullah said that this is the type of support and assistance that the centre welcomes and looks forward to from the community especially from private sectors and individuals.
The president also thanked Lilli Lingerie Boutique for supporting them by providing the door and window grills to secure the centre. He also hoped more people would come forward to support the centre in their journey to assist Individuals with Autism and their families.
