I AM sure many may not realise the lack of lighting at the parking area of Gadong Night Market.
I urge the relevant authorities to install some lamp posts there. This is for safety reasons, first, obviously to prevent any unwanted elements like thieves and pickpockets to lurk around and to ensure the safety of customers’ cars.
People walk around in the dark, especially those who are alone, and become a target for criminals.
Second, some lights there will help avoid any unwanted accidents, as we know people walk here and there, and sometimes drivers may be unaware when people cross especially children who are difficult to see when driving big cars like SUVs or mini vans. Lights are needed to also protect some animals especially cats and dogs from being hit or run over.
Third, lights may also prevent any ill-mannered people from doing any immoral activities in their cars, and I believe this happens.
Also, as far as I know, the Gadong Night Market is one of Brunei’s tourists attractions, so not only can the lights ensure safety, they can also serve to beautify the place.
Well-lit places are always better than dark places. Thus, with all due respect and concern, please install more lights at the pasar malam parking area.
