TWENTY-SEVEN students from the Religious Teachers University College of Seri Begawan (KUPU SB) took a Karate test organised by the Brunei Darussalam Shotokan Karate Association at the Hassanal Bolkiah Indoor Stadium in Berakas.
The test was conducted for the first time for club members of KUPU SB Karate-Do. Karate is one of the activities under the physical health development co-curriculum offered to KUPU SB students to produce physically healthy individuals.
According to Abdul Najib Syazwan bin Shahrani, a Year 3 student from the Religious Teaching Bachelor programme, the Karate practice session and test were beneficial to increase knowledge on the art of self-defence.
Meanwhile, Hamizahtul Liyana @ Humairah binti Haji Hamdilah, a Year 1 student from the Religious Teaching Bachelor programme, said the test sought to develop the students’ potential in the art of self-defence besides strengthening ties among other Karate practitioners in the country.
