THE Awang Semaun Secondary School held a closing ceremony of the Leadership Camp for its Student Representative Council and members of the school’s Peer Helpers at the Sungai Kebun Sports Complex.
The camp provided beneficial inputs and experiences to students during the school term holiday through courses and talks presented to them.
Two NGOs came forward to help the school run the camp and provided the students with several courses.
Team Building, Leadership Qualities and Communication Skills courses were provided by the Brunei Darussalam AIDS Council.
Working on Self Esteem, Self Confidence, Self Respect and Self Values’, ‘How to Become Role Model to Other Students’, and ‘MPP’s Role – Organising School Events’ courses were provided by Persatuan Kemajuan Insan (KESAN).
In addition to these courses, the principal and teachers of Awang Semaun Secondary School also delivered a presentation on ‘Leadership in Islam’, ‘How MPPs and PRS can Help School in Disciplinary Issues’, ‘Principled Leadership’ and so forth.
Students have expressed satisfaction on the camp and hoped activities such as this would continue to be conducted not just during school term holidays but for a longer period.
The school hopes that the knowledge that the students’ gained would be applied successfully by both the Students Representative Council and members of the Peer Helpers of Awang Semaun Secondary School.
