AS THE nation celebrates its 21st Civil Service Day, religious authorities at yesterday’s Friday sermon emphasised that this year’s celebration highlights strong and dynamic leadership towards efficient and effective administration.
Leadership, according to Islam, should be based on faith and pious acts to Allah the Almighty and Prophet Muhammad (pbuh).
Strong faith would bring better changes to an individual and his leadership, imams iterated. Faith impacts the leaders’ mind, attitude and actions when executing their tasks. Faith also strengthens an individual in upholding trust and responsibility. The main goal is to gain blessings from Allah the Almighty, imams reminded.
Imams also said a leader should be patient, creative, innovative, determined and committed to gaining Allah the Almighty’s blessings and to fulfilling the trust given to them. A leader who has authority should not abuse power, nor put his/her interest ahead of others, imams warned. A leader with faith would always uphold ties with Allah the Almighty and mankind as a whole.
