A BLOOD donation campaign was held at Laksamana College of Business (LCB) recently.
The annual campaign, usually held at least twice a year, was organised to boost the blood supply at the RIPAS Hospital Blood Bank Centre and raise awareness on the importance of donating blood.
Facilitated by the personnel of the centre, a health check-up was carried out to ensure donors were eligible.
“The donors must be free from any medication and have fulfilled the main criteria with regards to their body weight and age,” said Haji Iqmal Bin Haji Ismail, Supervisor of the RIPAS Hospital Blood Bank Centre.
“We have to make sure that the donor’s haemoglobin level meets the requirement by providing them questionnaire forms before the medical screening is done.”
Representatives from Syarikat Perniagaan Malar Setia (Ayam Brand) supported the campaign by providing light refreshments to the donors.
According to an LCB student, Ryan Thomas Singh Sekhon, some people including himself were afraid of needles.
However, he said he was willing to overcome his fear.
“Anything is possible with positive thinking and for a good cause.”
