A FAMILY of three whose house in Kg Tanjong Nangka was ravaged by a landslide recently received donations yesterday from the Brunei Islamic Religious Council (MUIB).
The mishap occurred during the wee hours of January 25.
No casualties were recorded except for slight injuries.
Santowidodo and his family are now staying at Sentosa flat in the capital, an assistance rendered by the Community Development Department.
MUIB handed over the donation from tithe money to lessen their burden.
Santowidodo’s family received a total of $800, or $200 each, and was presented yesterday by Acting Secretary of MUIB, Haji Abd Aziz bin Haji Akop, for their daily expenditures. His two children, who are studying at a secondary school, also received school stationery.
Haji Abd Aziz said MUIB is among those who gave contributions in times of need, and that such mishap was a test from Allah the Almighty to test the extent of our faith from Qadha and Qadar (fate and destiny).
Also present were Hajah Faridah binti Haji Yaakub, Acting Head of Collection and Distribution of Tithe, as well as officers from MUIB.
