I COULDN’T help but think of how the Public Works Department (JKR) has been actively carrying out road works along the Jalan Maulana stretch in Kuala Belait (KB).
As a resident of Lumut, I frequently visit my family living in KB and have always been agitated by the condition of the roads with numerous pot holes and bumps.
I used to wonder why this was never maintained or fixed and also have wondered if the authority concerned was even aware of its poor condition.
Nevertheless, it’s finally a welcome sight and with the re-surfacing it is now smoother to drive in the area.
I just hope the roadwork moves all the way up to Seria as the roads there are just as bad.
I would like to make a suggestion to the relevant authorities to do something about the large grass area along the roads of Jalan Maulana.
I notice that due to its unevenness there’s a tendency for the area to flood during heavy rainfall, which is an inconvenience and an eyesore.
I really believe the area could be made to look better if it were sand-filled nicely.
