KUDAT (Bernama) – Seven coastal villages where about 2,000 squatter families had been living for about 60 years, would be restructured and transformed into a proper, beautiful, comfortable and secure abode for the residents.
District officer Sabdin Ibrahim said the restructuring would be carried out in stages.
He said the government had initially proposed to relocate the squatters to a 300-acre site at Kampung Bumpa.
“But the residents wanted to stay put. We agreed to maintain the area,” he told Bernama.
