THE Korean Festival 2014 was launched yesterday at Times Square Shopping Centre to celebrate the 30 years of Korea-Brunei friendship.
It was co-organised by Times Square Shopping Centre, the Embassy of the Republic of Korea to Brunei Darussalam and Korea Tourism Organization.
The ceremony kicked off with a speech by the General Manager of Times Square, Amal Majidah, followed by a speech by the Ambassador of the Republic of Korea to Brunei Darussalam, Choi Byung-koo.
Also present were Park Dae-young from the Korea Tourism Organisation; Thien Yin, President of UBD Korean Culture Club; Dr Kamaruddin, President of Brunei-Korea Association for Friendship and Jo Chung-hyun, President of Korean Association in Brunei.
The launch was then followed by the unveiling of a new Ssanyong car by Choi and Managing Director of TCY Motors Sdn Bhd, Teng Chee Khiong.
Guests and shoppers were served bibimbap, a Korean delicacy.
This was followed by a performance by Korea’s BIBAP. The troupe from Korea will be performing today and tomorrow at 5pm and 8pm.
Visitors will be able to take part in several activities to experience Korean culture and buy products from the country. Visitors can wear and take photos in the traditional Korean attire, ‘Hanbok’, and take part in a lucky draw where the grand prize is a trip to Korea.
The festival at the atrium of Times Square Shopping Centre, from 10am to 10pm, ends tomorrow. The event is supported by Korea Tourism Organization in Kuala Lumpur, Anthony Tours, Daelim Industrial Co Ltd, Grand Motors Sdn Bhd, Setia Motors Sdn Bhd, Pan Bright Travel Service, Korean Association in Brunei, Korean Restaurant Silla, CERAGEM Korea (B) Sdn Bhd, Youth United Taekwondo, Brunei K-pop Lover Fans and UBD Korean Culture Club.
