TO ENLIVEN Hari Raya Aidiladha, Pusat Ehsan yesterday hosted a Korban ceremony, seeing Deputy Minister of Culture, Youth and Sports cum guest of honour Datin Paduka Hajah Adina binti Othman distributing the Korban meat to attendees.
The meat of seven buffaloes, contributed by 49 individuals, were distributed to orphans, less fortunate people, children with special needs and Pusat Ehsan members.
Held at Pusat Ehsan in Bengkurong, the ceremony opened with a recitation of Surah Al-Fatihah led by Kampong Bengkurong Mosque Imam Haji Abdullah bin Begawan Pehin Khatib Dato Paduka Haji Abdul Wahid, following which verses of the Al-Quran were read by Ali Yusri bin Ali Marsal.
The ceremony continued with a welcome remark delivered by Pusat Ehsan Religious Teacher Ustaz Sanif bin Haji Tarip.
The Korban ceremony is one of the annual religious activities organised by Pusat Ehsan.
Also in attendance were Pusat Ehsan Executive Trustee Pengiran Datin Hajah Noraini binti Pengiran Dipa Negara Lela Diraja Pengiran Haji Abdul Momin, Pusat Ehsan trustee members, penghulu of Mukim Kilanas and village head of Kampong Bengkurong.
Meanwhile, the Former Religious Teachers Association (PERGA) yesterday marked Aidiladha by holding a Korban meat distribution ceremony at its Kampong Selayun office in Sengkurong.
Thirty-five PERGA members assisted in preparing the meat of six buffaloes for distribution.
Speaking to the Bulletin, PERGA President Haji Abdul Rahim bin Haji Gantang noted that the Korban meat was prepared and packed by association members and later distributed to eligible recipients comprising orphans, less fortunate families and residents of respective villages.
By giving part of the meat to needy families, it reminds us of the importance of charity and reaffirms our resolve to strengthen the bond of prosperity within our fellow Muslims, he explained.
It is hoped the Korban ceremony, the fourth of its kind organised by the organisation, will continue in the coming years.
The event aimed to enliven the Aidiladha celebrations and provide an opportunity to foster ties among attendees.
