THE Authority for Info-communications Technology Industry of Brunei Darussalam (AITI) held a Korban ceremony at the Seri Kerna Hall, AITI office premises in Anggerek Desa.
The guest of honour, in his capacity as a member of the Authority, was Awang Adi Shamsul bin Hj Sabli, Deputy Permanent Secretary (IT and e-Government) at the Prime Minister’s Office.
Also attending were other Authority members, management and staff of AITI.
The event began with a recitation of Surah Al-Fatihah and Doa Selamat. The ceremony then proceeded with a religious talk by Dr Haji Adi Zaki bin Haji Matasim, Counsellor from the Islamic Dakwah Centre.
Two buffaloes were slaughtered and distributed to four underprivileged families (fakir miskin) from the area of Kg Anggerek Desa. A total of nine AITI staff and their families took part in the ceremony.
The guest of honour distributed the sacrificial meat.
The ceremony is one of the annual activities of AITI.
Apart from performing good deeds and religious obligations, the ceremony also aimed to foster relations among AITI staff and to encourage participation in religious and social welfare activities.
