DATO Paduka Haji Ali bin Haji Apong, Deputy Minister at the Prime Minister’s Office, officiated the opening of the 39th petrol station in the country last Thursday evening.
Located along the Kuala Belait-Tutong Highway in Lubok Pulau, the petrol station is the result of hard work by a community cooperative organisation at Kampung Lubok Pulau, Tutong, called the Koperasi Persatuan Kampung Lubok Pulau Tutong (KOPEKLAP).
The station is named Koperasi Persatuan Kampung Lubok Pulau Tutong Dengan Tanggungan Berhad petrol station or in short SMK petrol station.
The petrol station was built on an environment-friendly concept and has a mini Surau for commuters to stop at and perform their prayers.
The official opening date was chosen taking into account the official establishment of Persatuan Kampong Lubok Pulau (PEKLAP) 46 years ago.
The petrol station had actually begun operation eight months ago on February 28 with a soft launching.
The opening of the petrol station is one of the major investments and a milestone achievement of KOPEKLAP.
