KJ Eleven will meet Al-Idrus Junior in the final of the NBT FA Cup after defeating Menglait FC 2-1 at the Track and Field of the Hassanal Bolkiah National Sports Complex last night.
KJ Eleven – many tipped as slight favourites – raced to a 2-0 lead through Mohd Isa bin Hj Bakar and Pg Amirul bin Pg Zaman on either side of half- time.
Menglait halved the deficit through Ak Mohd Sallehudin bin Pg Sarifudin and could have even snatched a late goal in the dying minutes.
KJ Eleven found acres of space and spurned glorious chances to put the game to bed with Muhd Isa seeing a lot of the ball.
The keeper was also caught in no man’s land and after Abd Qayyum had slipped, they won possession but executed a rugby kick technique as opposed to finding the target with the goal gaping.
Menglait’s Ak Md Nurhidayat bin Pg Haji Ali was a thorn cleverly disguising his touches and beating defenders from confined spaces but his team-mate could not keep his shot down from a very good position.
The two sides are expected to meet in the final for the title on October 12.
