PANAGA Primary School hosted a graduation ceremony for 59 Kindergarten students yesterday.
The guest of honour was Yang Berhormat Haji Mohd Shafiee bin Ahmad, head of Kg Lumut I and a member of the National Legislative Council.
The event commenced with the recitation of Surah Al-Fatihah by Haidhar Muhammad bin Mohammad Syukri of Year 1. This was followed by Doa Selamat by Ustaz Hj Adanan bin Hj Tengah.
In his welcoming speech, Haji Ide Ismawee bin Haji Ismail, a Senior Academic Teacher, highlighted various successful approaches that have been taken in the area of children’s education.
“Apart from the 3M Skills – Menulis, Membaca dan Mengira (Writing, Reading and Counting), teachers also focused with the development of the 21st century skills such as Art and Play where the students were able to learn to enhance their creativity whilst learning in an interactive environment,” he said.
The teacher also talked about parent’s role in children’s education and development.
Speaking about the importance of attendance he said, “This year, it was found that there were few students who failed to meet the 85% attendance criteria enforced by the Ministry of Education according to which no student shall be promoted to the next level of education in case of lesser attendance.”
He asked parents to be more attentive as lack of attendance can jeopardise their children’s ability to cope with studies.
The graduating students were presented the graduation certificates by the guest of honour accompanied by Dk Susilawati binti Pg Omar, the Chairwoman of the event.
Later, Hjh Nor Zurina binti Hj Assim, the Headmaster of Panaga Primary School presented awards to students to highlight their achievements in areas like – Most Outspoken, Best Numeracy, Best Literacy, among others.
The event ended with a ‘Frozen’ themed singing and dancing performance by students followed by a token of appreciation to the guest of honour.
