HIGHER National Diploma students from the Kolej International Graduate Studies College (KIGS) Brunei yesterday put smiles on some 20 trainees from Pusat Ehsan during the KIGS College Personal Development Session.
The event was organised by KIGS lecturers comprising Vincy Xavier, the Head of Personal Development; Dr Malai Yunus bin Malai Yusof, the Assistant Head of Personal Development; and others.
Dr Ee Ah Meng, Senior Lecturer under the Business Department and Personal Development Coordinator, in his speech said, “As part of our personal development programme, our Higher National Diploma students through this event are exposed to all kinds of activities, ranging from team work, public speaking, confidence building, personal grooming and the cultivation of compassion.”
In an interview with the Bulletin, Vincy Xavier said, “The inculcation of personal development is for the students to build on their interpersonal skill as well as intrapersonal skill including being a citizen that looks after the community.”
She explained that the success of hosting the event came from students who worked together.
Lovella G Depala, the Head of Learning Support from Pusat Ehsan praised KIGS for organising the event which has helped raise understanding and awareness on special needs individuals.
She also lauded that the event helped expose the children to different environment and to interact with people.
Attending as the guest of honour was Pengiran Hajah Fatimah binti Pengiran Setia Jaya Pengiran Haji Abdul Momin, the CEO of KIGS.
Various activities were held during the event comprising games, colouring contests, hand painting on canvas, Origami and braiding.
A Bruneian Traditional Dance and World Costume Parade were also performed by KIGS students to the delight of the Pusat Ehsan trainees.
