THERE was certainly no let up for Zumba enthusiasts as they sweated it all out at the Youth Centre in the capital yesterday.
Organised by the undergraduate girls of Kolej International Graduate Studies (KIGS) doing their Diploma Business and Finance, the fun fitness session was an all-girls affair. According to Dr Malai Yunos bin Malai Yusof, a lecturer in Business, this was because they are adhering to the principles of Syariah Law.
He added that the session was their final business project, an important part of their business course, and Zumba was chosen because of its fun-based concept and health benefits for the participants.
The guest of honour at the event was Hjh Honeyta bte Hj Mustapha, Assistant Director of Administration (Finance) at the Ministry of Education who opened the fitness event.
The student leader for the event, Dk Ikhwana Syakila bte Pg Md Daud, said Zumba is a fun way of getting fit, and a healthy lifestyle for everyone. Though there are fees for the Zumba session, profits are secondary and their main objective was to promote a healthier lifestyle through exercise, she said.
She added that it has taken about six months to organise the Zumba session from conception, and it was a success.
