YOUTH Development Centre through its Research and Career Unit yesterday organised a networking session with stakeholder engagement as the main concept. It invited related government agencies as well as employees and representatives of automobile companies in the country.
The ‘Kick-Start’ project of Youth Development Centre is organised twice annually.
In May 2014, the centre organised a Beauty Therapy Course and this time it is a Vehicle Body Repair Course.
The Vehicle Body Repair Course is a technical course held since 2007 which has gained popularity among youth at the centre. The work attachment programme has also received good response from employers of private sectors.
The prime objective of the project is to give clear information to Youth Development Centre’s strategic partners on courses offered.
The idea is also to organise a sharing session on the course input and feedback from industry.
The project also aims to ink the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) in providing local job resources especially from Youth Development Centre to the automobile industry in the country.
The chief guest at the event was Awg Haswandi bin Haji Osman, Acting Assistant Director of Youth Development Centre.
In his speech he encouraged employers to come forward with ideas or suggestions to add value to the courses and thus help the centre’s youth to meet the job market demand in related industries.
He said the objective of the Kick-Start project 2014 is to expose courses offered at the centre and in the coming year the centre would introduce certificates for courses available at the centre locally and regionally.
A representative of Local Employment and Workforce Development Agency (APTK), Dyg Qairawani binti Hj Yacob, Acting Head of APTK, was also present at the event. He gave a briefing on programmes that have been implemented.
Also present at the event was representatives from Fire and Rescue Department, Land Transport Department, Bengkel Kereta Berakas Sdn Bhd, LVC Tyre Retreading Company and Mercedes-Benz/Jati Transport Sdn Bhd.
There was also vehicle body repair briefing by Awg Albert Del Prado and Dyg Amhra Farahiyah binti Hj Mohd Hamidillah.
