AK Md Hilme Ahtirah Puddin bin Pg Jufrizar’s spectacular effort a minute from the interval sunk Pandan 14 in a 1-0 victory for Kheir FC in the DST FA Cup at the Track and Field of the Hassanal Bolkiah National Sports Complex last night.
Kheir had a decent chance in the final 10 minutes to end all matters with a looping free-kick that just went wide as Pandan’s goalkeeper Sam Darren Anak Lampas was relieved to see the ball ended out of play.
The referee spotted infringement when he awarded the free- kick that originated from a Kheir’s throw on the final third of their opponents after the corner had initially was comfortably headed away.
Pandan pushed in search for an equaliser and pieced together a set of good passes but Kheir remained compact not allowing any late drama whatsoever.
Pandan did win a free kick with injury time fast looming and a corner as both teams showed hunger to chase the ball before it crossed the touchline.
The ball was still in Kheir’s territory when the referee called it time as one of the familiar teams in the district put their names in the hat for the next round.
Kheir will next face DSP United on November 9 for a likely encounter against one of the domestic league teams.
