KUALA LUMPUR (Bernama) – Pos Malaysia Berhad (PMB) has vowed to clip the wings of drug syndicates which have allegedly gone ‘postal’ to distribute ketum leaves for addicts nationwide, via its PosLaju service.
Already, PMB has begun an internal investigation into allegations that its employees might be in cahoots with the syndicates.
A PMB spokesman said the authorities viewed the allegations seriously and the company did not tolerate employees who violated the law.
“(As such) Pos Malaysia will continue to support and give full cooperation to the authorities (including the police) in the investigations,” he said in a press statement here yesterday.
Ketum leaves boiled in water and drunk are used as cheap alternative to satisfy addicts craving for drugs.
Ketum abuse has seen a rise in many states, including Sabah and Sarawak.
