AFTER about a year of construction and preparations, Keoja Hotel in Kuala Belait has finally opened its doors to the public in a soft launching yesterday.
The hotel, with a total of 108 rooms in six floors, is situated in the heart of Kuala Belait town. It offers a view of the Belait River for most rooms above the third floor.
“We aim to provide the customers with comfort, especially to those far away from home like customers who are visiting Belait for a business trip or just to have a getaway or short holiday,” Jeffrey Chung, the General Manager of Keoja Hotel, said.
He shared more information about the hotel in an interview with the media.
Q: Can you tell us more about the theme of the hotel?
“We have infused more brown colours and more wood material into the lobby and into the rooms while trying something different but at the same time trying to give the customers that feeling you get when you arrive into your own house after a long day at work… That state of relief… Keoja is a Finnish word that means ‘siblings’.”
Q: What kind of customers will you be targeting?
“We will try to cater to different groups of customers but this hotel is aimed to accommodate visitors who are here for business trips, especially with Belait District as the heart of oil and gas industries for Brunei Darussalam.”
Q: Is there any specialty that you would like to highlight about this hotel?
“The restaurant, Fiore, will introduce delicacies of Mexican, Greek and Italian origins which will be managed by Mizio Minnitti, the chef – who is from Southern Italy and has travelled to other parts of the world for his profession.”
The media was given the opportunity to join Chung for a tour of the hotel which was focused mainly on the different types of rooms they offer.
Out of the total number of room, 84 are Standard Queen Rooms, six Standard Twin Rooms, six Standard Deluxe Rooms and 12 Deluxe King Rooms.
The rooms are notably different in their names, bed sizes and room space that they offer and include centralised air conditioning system, direct dial telephone with IDD, complimentary high-speed Internet access, complimentary mini bar items, complimentary in-room coffee and tea making facilities, safe deposit boxes, daily newspaper which is upon request, computer access at Lobby Floor, inter-connecting rooms which is subject to availability and a 24/7 housekeeping and laundry service.
