A SIGNING ceremony was held yesterday between Microsoft IT Academy (ITA) and Kemuda Institute. The institute was represented by Pg Hj Masri Pg Hj Othman, Managing Director of Kemuda Institute and Microsoft Brunei Sdn Bhd was represented by Country Manager Haniza Zakariya. The signing was witnessed by guest of honour, Dato Paduka Awang Haji Ali bin Haji Apong, Deputy Minister at the Prime Minister’s Office, and Dato Paduka Haji Abdul Razak bin Haji Mohammad, Executive Chairman of Kemuda.
Kemuda Institute also launched an ITA programme that offers curriculum recognised by Microsoft. The programme aims to prepare the students for employment. Through the programme, students graduating from Kemuda Institute will receive Microsoft certification.
Pg Hj Masri said Kemuda is focusing on IT courses for full and part-time students to meet the 21st century demand. Kemuda will also introduce more courses such as entrepreneurship and leadership programmes to support the needs of the students.
“Here in Kemuda, students are prepared for employment through education, interpersonal skills and appearance. From Monday to Friday, students are required to dress up formally for them to prepare for working environment. They are also provided with the opportunity to work as a team through team building activities, student council associations and extracurricular activities,” said Pg Hj Masri.
The signing ceremony coincides with Kemuda Institute’s opening ceremony of its new campus.
The new campus at Jalan Beribi has wheelchair-accessible classrooms, computer lab, library, prayer room and washroom facilities.
According to Pg Hj Masri, the new campus houses seven classrooms, five computer labs, two technical rooms, students’ facilities and dedicated management and academic staff’s floor. For security, 24-hour surveillance cameras are installed in all the classrooms, computer labs and common areas.
The managing director also said that the educators at Kemuda are all experienced and skillful individuals and about 75 per cent of the staff are locals. Kemuda also provides many benefits to their employees.
“Kemuda will always strive to provide quality time to all students and staff choosing to be part of the family. With the new campus, the students and staff will enjoy their learning and teaching moments,” concluded the managing director.
After the signing ceremony, the guest of honour signed the plaque to mark the official opening of the new campus. It was followed by a ribbon-cutting ceremony and a group photo session with the board of directors, lecturers and staff.
