SOME 100 police personnel were dispatched around the Brunei-Muara District earlier this week as they carried out their duties in ensuring peace and stability throughout the country in the run up to the New Year.
According to a police statement, road block and surveillance operations took place in several locations within the Brunei-Muara District where personnel uncovered a number of road traffic violations.
As part of efforts in conjunction with the Christmas celebrations under two different operations, 12 different locations were concentrated, stretching from Jerudong to Berakas and Jangsak areas.
From the operation, personnel issued dozens of compounds for offences ranging from expired driving licences and road taxes to unauthorised car modifications.
On December 25, just after midnight, under the orders of Acting Officer Commanding Police of Brunei-Muara District Superintendent Mazalan bin Haji Yakub, officers descended upon nine areas for the purposes of crime prevention and for what has been described as Police Omnipresence and Community Policing Engagement.
The operation resulted in 46 ‘Stop and Search’, 14 reminders and 16 compound cases. Meanwhile, under the Traffic Control and Investigation Department that occurred on the night of the 25th, personnel operated in three locations resulted in 55 compound and docket cases.
